An overview of the 7 Chakras

Chakras are energy centers in our body and are vital for our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Each chakra is connected to a color, element, and region of the body. Starting at the base of our spine and working upward:

      2. The Sacral Chakra is located just below the navel and is associated with the color orange. It represents our emotional and creative center, and is said to govern our emotional and sexual expression.
      3. The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the upper abdomen and is associated with the color yellow. It represents our personal power and sense of self, and is said to govern our self-esteem and willpower.
      4. The Heart Chakra is located at the center of the chest and is associated with the color green. It represents our ability to love and connect with others, and is said to govern our ability to give and receive love.
      5. The Throat Chakra is located at the base of the throat and is associated with the color blue. It represents our ability to communicate and express ourselves, and is said to govern our ability to speak our truth.
      6. The Third Eye Chakra is located between the eyebrows and is associated with the color indigo. It represents our ability to see beyond the physical world and access inner wisdom, and is said to govern our intuition and psychic abilities.
      7. The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head and is associated with the color violet. It represents our connection to the divine, and is said to govern our spiritual understanding and ability to access higher states of consciousness.

Each of the seven chakras in the human body is associated with a specific element:
      1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) - Earth
      2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) - Water
      3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - Fire
      4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) - Air
      5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) - Ether/Sound
      6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) - Light
      7. Crown Chakra (Sahaswara) - Consciousness
These elements play a role in the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects governed by each chakra, and can be used in meditation, visualization, and affirmations to help balance and harmonize each energy center.
The balance and health of the Chakras are tied to the balance and health of the entire individual. Energy flows freely and we have a sense of well-being when the Chakras are in harmony. When they are obstructed, we feel distant from our inner selves and have physical or emotional symptoms. The Chakras can be balanced by a variety of techniques, including yoga, meditation, and the use of essential oils. We will explore that more when we delve deeper into each Chakra.
